Tucson Acupuncture Clinic -- Cheri Brown,
L.Ac.
Once upon a time I was a long distance runner. I ran about ten miles a day. After
years of doing this, I developed a lot of problems with my right foot. My foot
experienced more surgeries than a person could count. Still I continued to run
Sabino Canyon three times a week, coming home to ice my foot and take pain pills in
order to sleep at night. One day I went to my doctor to get a refill for my pain
meds and to get my cortisone shot. He said to me, "have you ever thought about
trying acupuncture?" I said, "at this point I am willing to try anything". The pain
was making it difficult for me to sleep at night. He referred me to an
acupuncturist(who was a nurse working for him at one time). I went for my first
treatment... the results were amazing!! After three treatments I was pain free--
no more pain meds were needed.
Then about ten years later I went to Montana in the winter time to help my mother.
While I was there the excruciating pain reappeared. I thought, 'what did I do last
time the pain was this bad? Oh, I had Acupuncture.' There just happened to be an
Acupuncturist in Great Falls, Montana. I started seeing him once a week and the pain
disappeared. Also, my whole life I had a lot of problems with asthma. I was taking
about two medications a day and using an inhaler. I just hating taking all that
stuff, it made me feel horrible, but it made it so I could breathe. I mentioned to
the acupuncturist about my asthma and he said that he would be able to help with that
also. He prescribed Chinese herbs and did Acupuncture. It was amazing!! No more
medications-- no more inhalers!! I have not used an inhaler since 2002. I was
thinking..... this Acupuncture stuff is incredible!!!
At that point in time, I was recently divorced and wanted to do something different
with my life. After much soul searching, I decided that I wanted to become an
Acupuncturist so that I could help people the way that I had been helped.
In my practice, I like to help people, to make them feel better, to improve their
quality of life. Helping to eliminate migraine headaches is one of my favorite
aspects of my practice. I am passionate about integrating cranio-sacral therapy work
with acupuncture. Stress relief is a big part of what I do, along with working with
fibromyalgia patients to improve their quality of life.
Below you can get a sense of my training and credentials; I bring an advanced

Feel Better Naturally --
Michelle C. Larson, M.Ac.

As a Seattle native I grew up with a passion for health and healing. This lead me
to Tucson in 1999 where I attended the Desert Institute of Healing Arts. After a very
short time here in the desert I knew I was home.
There is nothing more beautiful than a brisk November morning in Tucson. I love to
take my little dog Nailah out to Catalina State Park where we can explore the wide
open spaces. It warms my heart to see her smile as she races the bunnies and chases
lizards.
I am a certified massage therapist with a Master's
Degree in Acupuncture and a
Bachelor's Degree in Holistic Health. I am licensed in the state of Arizona to
practice both massage therapy and acupuncture. I am also nationally certified as a
Labor Doula and Childbirth Educator.
As a faculty of the Cortiva Maternity and Infant Massage Program I have the
opportunity to travel nationally teaching continuing education for professional
massage therapists looking to deepen their understanding of massage for the
childbearing year. I am also a faculty member at the Asian Institute of Medical
Studies in Tucson, Arizona.
From December of 2001-November of 2005 I owned and operated Catalina Foothills
Wellness Center located in Northwest Tucson. I sold the company in 2005 to allow
myself more freedom to work one on one with patients.
Thank you for taking the time to explore your options for holistic healthcare in
Tucson. There is a wonderful community of practitioners in Tucson each specializing
in a unique area. I welcome you to contact me with further questions, it is important
to me that you find what you're looking for.

Desert Springs Acupuncture Clinic --
Derek Williams, M.Ac.

Derek Williams found acupuncture as a way to get well
after becoming extremely ill in 2001. Derek started
out life as an underweight and sickly child. He started
weight training at age 12 and at the same time, started
on a good nutrition plan. This helped him gain muscle
mass and become healthier, and improved his self esteem.
He later competed in bodybuilding, powerlifting, karate, and wrestling.
After a series of stressful events, Derek became very
ill in late 2001 with Environmental Illness. He
suffered from fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome,
multiple chemical sensitivity, multiple food allergies,
and severe endocrine disruptions including Addison's
Disease.
After receiving disappointing results from western
medicine, Derek turned to alternative medicine,
including chiropractic, acupuncture, homeopathy,
applied kinesiology, herbs, and western dietary
supplements.
After a short period of time, he began to see dramatic
improvements in his health. Derek was working as an
accountant when he became ill, but he began researching
alternative and conventional medicine when he developed
Environmental Illness in 2001. Shortly afterwards, after
experiencing dramatic improvements in his health, it was
suggested to him by his health care provider that he
should look into becoming involved in alternative medicine
as a career.
After some thought, research, and prayer, Derek decided
to become an acupuncturist.
In addition to training extensively in Applied Kinesiology,
Derek attended Caldwell Community College in Hudson, NC,
Pima Community College in Tucson, Arizona, and graduated from
Arizona School of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine in
August of 2008 with a Master's Degree in Acupuncture.
